It all begins with your why. A personal statement is a written essay that highlights your motivations, experiences, goals, and suitability for a specific program or career. It’s a critical part of applications to medical schools, graduate schools, internships, or jobs. The personal statement provides insight into who you are beyond your grades and test scores, showcasing your personality, values, and aspirations. Writing a personal statement can be challenging. It feels like so much pressure is riding on this essay. What makes for a winning personal statement is authenticity and storytelling.

Choosing who to work with for personal statement services takes a lot of research and trust. I want to make my process and my service as transparent as possible. My ultimate goal is to ensure you leave our time with a body of work you are proud to submit to medical school and feel like it is truly representative of your story. Why Pay for Application Services?

While there are free resources available, discerning high-quality, personalized guidance from basic services is key. Here’s how I offer a unique experience:

1. Individualized Essay Editing and Revisions: My services go beyond standard written feedback. I work collaboratively with you, focusing on verbal discussions that bring out the heart of your story—though my exact process is something clients experience firsthand! I see this as a partnership, with *you* taking the lead. It’s your voice, your journey; I’m here to help guide you in a way that makes your story truly yours.

2. Tailored Support and Accountability: Many of my clients need more than just editing; they need guidance, support, and sometimes a bit of tough love. My approach ensures they achieve a result that stands out. I’m invested in each client’s success, often spending extensive time on Zoom to go over edits, revise in real time, and challenge them to write their most authentic story. This is not your average personal statement service.

3. Heart and Soul Investment: I pour my energy into every client’s personal statement process. I know my rates might be higher, but this reflects the commitment and depth I bring to each project. My previous clients will tell you—I push them to their potential, encouraging them to uncover the most genuine version of their story.

  • Click “Request Service” and you will be directed to a google form to submit.  Within 3-5 business days, you will receive a consultation email with additional information regarding the beginning of the editing process to refine and enhance your statement.

  • Depending on the services you are interested in, majority of services come with multiple rounds of editing. I work with you until your personal statement is polished and ready for submission. We will focus on several key areas:

    • Strengthening your narrative, making sure your personal statement reflects your personality, authenticity

    • Ensuring your ideas are clearly expressed, logically organized, and your story aligns with the goals of your application

    • Enhancing the overall effectiveness (and impact) of your statement to engage and resonate with the reader.

    In general, the editing process typically involves three broad stages: 

    1. Initial review with feedback where I provide a thorough review of your draft, addressing areas such as structure, content clarity, tone, and overall impact.

    2. Revisions: Based on your goals and our feedback, you work on subsequent edits and improvements to ensure your statement is compelling, clear, and effectively communicates your message.

    3.  Final Review: We’ll do a final check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting to ensure the document is polished and professional.

  • The turnaround time typically ranges from 2-4 weeks depending on the complexity of your statement and current workload. I encourage clients to start early, don’t wait until April!  Please let me know your deadlines in advance.

    I typically only offer services from December to April. This means a majority of my clients will/should have a finalized body of work by end of May.

I offer brainstorming and outlining services in addition to editing. If you're starting from scratch or unsure how to organize your ideas, I can help you create a structure, provide writing prompts, and assist with developing a strong, cohesive narrative. However, a more polished draft will allow us to focus on refining your statement and maximizing its impact (and cheaper service*).

  • It depends on the services you are interested in - all services come with multiple rounds of editing. If you have made significant changes after the first round, we will review your revised statement in the second round to ensure everything flows well and is cohesive.   • Pricing varies based on the level of service required. Prices typically range from $350 to $800, depending on the complexity and length of your personal statement.

  • I cannot guarantee acceptance into medical school. I can guarantee that I will help you craft the best possible version of your personal statement. A strong personal statement can improve your chances of standing out to admissions committees, but it’s important to keep in mind that admissions decisions are based on multiple factors, including academic qualifications, test scores, and recommendations.

  • Maintaining your unique voice is important to me. I aim to enhance your writing while preserving your tone, style, and authenticity. My role is to refine your message and ensure clarity, not to rewrite your entire statement in my words. I encourage open communication! If there’s something you don’t agree with or want to adjust, happy to discuss your concerns and make revisions accordingly. The goal is to collaborate with you to create the strongest possible statement that you feel confident submitting.

  • No, your personal statement will remain confidential. I value your privacy and will never share your work or use it as an example for other clients unless I have explicit permission from you. All information is handled securely.
